Reviews

“What begins as a comfortable tale along a familiar path, splinters and deepens as Walker stretches the fabric of each brother against the consequences of their choices. This first step into the realm of Gaspaar whispers a siren call to the reader to share the coming journey.”

M. Saulsgiver – Virginia

“The author has woven a narrative of magical fantasy – a mystical adventure packed quest – a true tale of good and evil.”

P. Hefler – Louisiana

“Happily reminiscent of Tolkien and Lewis’s classic fantasies… A setting that makes the reader wish they could find a portal to Gaspaar, the fast-moving plot quickly pulls one in. This is a story that will make a difference in young people’s lives and remain in their hearts.”

C. DeWoody – Arkansas

“Many insights linger;

If it was the right thing to do, he wondered why he did not feel better about it. —
There are always rules, Brother. A knight carries them with him, even when he’s alone. —

Thank you for this beautiful, beautiful adventure.”

J. Blake – Louisiana

Young readers’ reviews

Perhaps my most valued evaluations of the original manuscript (then titled A KING FOR GASPAAR) were those of two seventh grade classes (unknown to me) who were invited by their teacher (a friend of mine) to include copies of the manuscript on their list of classic and contemporary middle grade and Y.A. readings for the year.

Not only did they vote the manuscript of the unknown writer as their favorite read but later, when informed of the friendship of the writer with their teacher and his availability, insisted on meeting me. I was delighted with a collection of personal reviews and even drawings from the story including original maps of the quest. Samples of these are listed.

“…This book was exhilarating. I loved it when they climbed up the mountain. I would give it three thumbs up if I had them. Right now, I can only give you two! I loved your book and can’t wait for The Clouds of Izmah!
